About Shawnigan

Shawnigan Lake School is Canada’s Boarding School.

Founded in 1916, Shawnigan is an independent, co-educational boarding school for grades 8-12, located on Vancouver Island on Canada’s west coast. Our mission is to lead young people in the pursuit of excellence through the challenges of a well-rounded education. With a focus on academics, athletics, fine arts and leadership, the School’s aim is to develop young men and women of character and integrity.

Shawnigan’s senior rugby program is generally regarded as one of the top programs of its kind in Canada. The 1st XV and Girls’ XV have been crowned provincial champions on several occasions, and the School regularly produces athletes who compete for their country at both age-grade and senior levels.
